"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely
in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside,
thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming -- WOW--What
a Ride!"
"I'm gonna change your name," he said. "I'm gonna walk you down an aisle."
It takes a teensy bit more than that, honey. Nothing magical happens between the door of the church and the altar and KA-BLAM! I have to order new checks now. The Department of Public Safety, the Social Security Administration, all my credit cards, my money markets, etc., have to be contacted. And then there's work, and the circus that a name change creates.
I can check my work email. I can even surf the 'net. But under my new name, I have no access to the functions that are necessary to make me a viable part of this team.
It should be fixed by lunch. But driven workaholic that I am, until it's fixed I will be crazy, and unable to do a thing about it.
12,000+???? I did not know Mountain Cedar could be calculated in the air that high. Ouch. *sniff* I need to be put to bed. And some tortilla soup wouldn't be bad either. *cough*
Whew. Seemingly a daunting task is now overcome. We have pored over the wedding preview album and have chosen our 8 x 10s and 5 x 7s. After I email the order to the photographer, I'm gonna get silly on cough syrup.
Get up! Get over it! And get back in there!
Have you ever had to cancel a mobile phone? Today I had the pleasure of visiting with Mark in Dallas, TX. I told him I was switching providers, as my contract is up, and he did everything he's supposed to do to get me to stay.
"Well, it looks like you've gone over on your minutes for this month."
"No, that is not possible," I told him. And he kept on, talking about how I was losing my USAA 5% discount, yadda, yadda, etc.
"Mark, do you want me to explain to you why it isn't possible that I've gone over my minutes this month? The phone is dead. It has ceased to be. I've been out of the country on my honeymoon. I have neither received nor initiated a call in nearly three weeks. Now, let's sing some Chistmas carols and call it a day."
Call center employees everywhere love me.
Locks of Love. I was only going to do six inches or so, but I don't ever wanna be one of those people who had a catastrophic thing happen to their hair so they won't ever cut it again. I don't want Crystal Gayle hair. Locks of Love needs ten inches of unprocessed, never-been-colored-or-permed hair, so they got it from me.
I've seen the seven wonders of the world
I've seen the beauty of diamonds and pearls
But they ain't nothin' baby
Your love amazes me
I've seen a sunset that would make you cry
And colors of a rainbow reaching 'cross the sky
The moon in all its phases, but
Your love amazes me
Don't you ever doubt this love of mine
You're the only one for me
You give me hope, you give reason
You give me something to believe in
Forever faithfully, your love amazes me
*yawn*
I think I've gotten off Greece time, but right about now I'm maybe on Mid-Atlantic Time. Hope to be on Eastern by this evening.
Whew. Home from our vacation far away! I'm trying to easily synch back into this time zone, in Greece it's supper-time, but my darling husband is sleeeeping. Twenty-one hours of airplanes. I should be sleeping too.
Boy, did I luck out with this guy. He is the most wonderful travel companion I could have imagined. On the way to Greece, amid flight cancellations galore, he just stepped up to the plate and found us a flight to Paris on time.
Throughout the ride with the undead taxi driver in Athens, and five days of climbing every rock in Hellas, he was perfect. Delta lost our luggage for five days and it caught up to us in Kalambaka. Instead of buying me an Olympics t-shirt, my husband would rather buy me a meandering Greek Key necklace. When the suitcase came, I never knew how happy clean socks could make me. Erik never got crabby or made the adventure unpleasant. He is soooo good-natured and perfect for me. I feel so safe.
I love America. Being a soldier's daughter, I always said this nation's borders are good enough for me, but I had to try flying over an ocean. I'm so glad we did, but today we're going to find some American Greek food. And I am sooo enjoying English cable tv.
Hee. Blogging from beautiful baltic downtown Athens. Starbucks is down the street, but caramel macchiato doesn't translate well.
Kyrie elaison. Hopefully tonight, I'll be sleeping over the Atlantic Ocean. I don't want to be awake for too much of that. But I'll have espresso in the morning in Paris, and lunch in Athens. told everyone we'll buy them postcards, and they'll probably get them when we get back. Adio.
Chronia polla! Eat something sweet for breakfast, to sweeten the new year. Open your windows, and wear new clothes. Right now, I'm wearing new pajamas.
