I have a Stephen R. Covey autographed copy of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. And you, likely, don't. Neener, neener. I keep it locked away so all the envious people of the Southwest can't make off with it. The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing.
Autumn mornings make me think of speech competition. I piled into a van with sometimes twelve other college kids and luggage and off we'd go to exotic places like Eau Claire and Lincoln, sacrificing vegetables to the Prairie Chicken at Rothsay on our way back to Fargonia.
Man, that was fun. And AFA Nationals, my sophomore year, was my first ride on a plane. Man, that was fun. Heh. One frosty Saturday morning in Wisconsin, we were heading down to the van. Kelly announced, "Current temperature: four degrees." Today's projected high: FOUR degrees."
Ah, good times.
There's nothing like this feeling, and a lot of feelings or experiences are that way. Some people view a scooter as a status symbol for going to the clubhouse or down the boardwalk. Some people need it. I helped to changed a life. The life of a twenty-four year old woman that would continue to be so different if not for the enabling of mobility equipment. And we sometimes joke that this is so selfish, that we come to work each day and just feel so good all day long. To change a life...
“To laugh often and much, to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children… to leave the world a bit better…to know even one life breathed easier because you lived, this is to have succeeded.”
-Bessie Anderson Stanley
It used to be my email signature, then the other day I got a postcard from an old friend with this verse on the front. It's raining today,a nd 85 degrees at the end of the summer makes it perfect light sweater weather in South Texas. My perfect date?
"I want you to get swept away out there. I want you to levitate, I want you to sing with rapture and dance like a dervish... I know. It’s a cornball thing, but love is passion – obsession – some one you can’t live without. I say fall head over heels. Find someone you can love like crazy and who will love you the same way back. How do you find him? Well, you forget your head and you listen to your heart….’Cause the truth is, honey, there is no sense living your life without this. To make the journey and not fall deeply in love…well, you haven’t lived a life at all. But you have to try because if you haven’t tried, you haven’t lived."
--Bill Parish (Anthony Hopkins), Meet Joe Black
"No love, no friendship can cross the path of our destiny without leaving some mark on it forever."
-Francois Mauriac
"There are two ways of spreading light; to be the candle or the mirror that receives it."
-Edith Wharton
This morning I definitely felt Autumn in the Air. My favorite time of year. So I celebrated by picking up a pumpkin scone with my coffee. And a rainy fall day in South Texas gets me one day closer to Christmas!! And I'm the princess!
The folks who license business names must be reeling. Every name for a small biz is taken, so people are resorting to names like, "Hearing Aid Express." WHAT?? Do we take a whirlwind rollercoaster ride on a choo-choo through the ear canal there?? HUH? Also, I see it every day: "Physical Therapy Unlimited." Yep, you're telling me.
Praise the Lord I have parents and a fiance who believe I need flowers. I love flowers. Multi-colored roses, enough to share, and one vase of big sunshiny sunflowers. I'm so happy.
